A concept model is an important component of the strategic roadmap. It is a representation of the proposed system, consisting of a diagram or a few wireframes. Concept models are useful in describing how we see the solution before developing a detailed design.
For some clients, we have provided concept workshops that bring together key stakeholders and allow them to evaluate the direction we're taking. During the workshop we present key ideas for the design and then the participants break-out into small groups to review the concepts and provide feedback to the larger group. We then take away the information to develop the design.
The concept model and accompanying workshop are useful:
- in conveying a proposed direction in easy to understand diagrams
- for creating buy-in and generating interest from stakeholders
