Expert Reviews

An expert review, or usability review, is a technique used to identify and diagnose usability problems and bottlenecks within a product or service's interactive experience. To do the review, we first establish the usability principles (heuristics) that we will be using to evaluate the site, then we have a user experience professional 'walk through' the site and identify areas where the heuristics have not been applied.

We have conducted numerous expert walk throughs on mobile devices, websites, and applications.

We commonly do an expert walk through as part of our usability and design projects, to help define a test plan for usability testing by pre-identifying potential areas/issues to watch for in the testing, or it can be used to evaluate a current product to help a client build their business case or to help us assess how to redesign.

We have also provided the expert walk through as a stand-alone service for customers who are contemplating a redesign and want to understand the current painpoints in their products, or in the middle of a redesign, perhaps at the prototype stage, and are looking for our user experience analysis and expertise before continuing.

An expert walk through can be a high level overview taking only a day or two of effort to conduct, or it can be an in-depth and formal process involving multiple user experience professionals conducting independent reviews before coming together to compile their combined efforts.
