Developing an effective information architecture (IA), or structure, for your site is an important element in good design. Our process includes:
- Creating a detailed content audit or inventory of the information that should be included on your site or product
- Reviewing research about your users (interviews, focus groups) and reviewing strategy documents (business requirements, concept model)
- Drafting a high-level information architecture (IA) showing the proposed organizational structure of the site
- Testing the IA with our online navigation testing tool called Navtester and revising the IA based on feedback
When we are finished, we'll deliver:
- Findings from the testing and an explanation about the approach
- A detailed IA document, or site map, that shows how to organize the site and includes category and page names
- A mapping of the content inventory to the new IA so you know where pre-existing content belongs when you begin migrating content
