I was in my dentist’s office recently and saw paper signs plastered everywhere in the waiting area - Come follow us on Twitter!

Now, I like my dentist as much as the next person, and I’ve been going there for over 15 years, but the first question that I asked myself was Why on earth would I do that?

Until recently I hadn't found a particularly compelling reason to use Twitter. Some of my colleagues raved about it but it just didn't interest me. Recently, however, I found a good use for Twitter - recruiting for a user research study.

"I want to follow your witty thoughts ... just join Twitter!"

So nags my friend. They say brevity is the soul of wit. Wit does not often work well without context though. How well does Twitter incorporate context into its brevity-oriented space?
