Yesterday was April Fool’s Day. And what I thought was a totally crazy joke, turned out to have a lot of interest.
For the gag I forwarded an old message to the building list serve to my staff but changed the subject and content of the message.
Subject: Fwd: [flackblock] Flack Block Enercycles
Message: Hello all you fabulous tenants of 163 West Hastings,
Renewal is extremely proud to announce that with the help of IdeaLever and Bullfrog Power we've been able to install 6 Enercycles in the empty suite in the basement. These energy generating cycles will help to run the building's generators and help us achieve LEEDs Platinum status by taking us off the grid! We ask that all tenants commit to 4.5 hours of Enercycling per month per employee. Not only will you help us to be even more green but you'll get in shape too!
Rob Stocks at IdeaLever (Suite 407) has generously offered to manage the sign up sheet. Drop by and sign up today.
Happy Enercycling!
While the some of staff at ADGi were grumbling a little (hey, I climb the stairs everyday already!) most were disappointed at first to find out this wasn’t real! Most were thinking what a great way to combine fitness with environmental consciousness.
This mini bit of user research has reminded me that one person's crazy idea is often another's solution. Perhaps there is a market for helping people to stay fit and green.
Any crafty engineers or inventors out there?
