I love the opportunity we have at ADGi to make a difference in the lives of so many people through our research and design work.
For example when I tested our website design with patients and staff at the BC Cancer Agency, I really understood how important the website was to providing support. And when I tested Translink’s Trip Planner app with transit users it felt great knowing that we were helping improve their experience.
A great part of my job is how every person in the ADGi group is so focused on finding the right solution. At ADGi, I find that everyone is absolutely engaged with the quality and won't sacrifice it - no matter what. It is that dedication, examples of which are shown in our Projects, that makes it so satisfying for me to be here.
Analytic Design Group Inc. (ADGi) is a visionary user experience consulting firm with proven strategic, research, and design skills to revolutionize your online presence. Headquartered in Vancouver, Analytic Design Group Inc. was established in 2005. The company has been growing steadily each year, with increasing revenues and repeat engagements with our clients.
We are often challenged with finding a balance between delivering something that is simple to develop or usable. Recently we delivered a webinar for the BC Apps for Climate Action Contest that dealt with this problem. The presentation walks through two case studies of application design we did for TransLink.
At ADGi we pride ourselves on our attention to detail, whether creating a cohesive user research plan or a well structured information architecture. Our clients have told us that their development teams say that our wireframes are the most detailed and comprehensive that they've ever worked with.
At ADGi we apply both qualitative and quantitative analysis to our research. For our mobile device testing, the quantitative elements include a range of metrics to measure the user experience. The metrics we use highlight the design issues from different perspectives, and by having a consistent set of metrics we are able to evaluate a design thoroughly as well as track improvements over time.
ADGi is located in the newly restored Flack Block, at the corner of Hastings and Cambie in downtown Vancouver. The Flack Block is a beautifully reclaimed heritage building designed to LEEDs gold standard and has won numerous awards for building and sustainability design. We enjoy the culture of sustainability at the Flack Block and we support all of the activities of the building: recycling, composting, battery recycling, and making use of the bike locker facilities.
It's great to see wireframes transformed into a fully developed, live site such as recently happened with the AT&T Solutions Catalog. After a site that we designed launches, I always try it out, particularly checking out the interactions of features that we spent so long working out on paper.
Team work is a big part of what we do be it planning a user research study, working out the details of the interaction design for an app, or writing up an expert review. We've designed our space to support team work and the flow of creativity and innovation as much as possible while still giving people enough quiet for "heads-down" work.
The result is beautiful and usable design, in-depth studies with insightful analysis, and a hard working, highly productive team.
Framing the design of usable interfaces is about relationship management. In the mobile world where time and space are scarce, good design presents a consistent set of essential choices then gets out of the user's way. By providing short, unambiguous navigation paths, and self-evident consequences to actions, power is given to the user. Like any relationship, usable design includes knowing when to let go.
